Article: Stella's Back As the 'Courier of Love'

"If I'm not a singer, I hope that I can become a songwriter and write songs for other singers," Stella said when asked about her plans after her singing career comes to an end. "That's because I can express my personal feelings in my songs. But I never thought of becoming a singer when I was growing up. Becoming a singer and releasing albums has really been serendipitous."

When Stella came out with her debut album "Wait" last year, people were forced to take notice of this talented singer, who also happens to resemble Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue. Sure enough, this album not only became one of the top-selling albums of 2001 but Stella was also nominated as best newcomer at the prestigious Golden Melody Awards. Now, after about twenty months, Stella's back with her second Mandarin album "Courier of Love."

When talking about "Courier of Love," the first single off this album, Stella said, "This is a song that talks about how I easily get lost and my bad sense of direction." Stella also said that she "grew up" a lot in the time between her two albums. "Before, the lyrics of my songs were more from a little girl's point of view. But after experiencing so much over the past couple of years, I feel like I've matured a lot. Now, I see things more from a woman's point of view."

In addition to promoting her latest album, Stella recently played a part in the TV drama "Marmalade Boy." When recalling her first acting experience, Stella said that acting reminded her how "fortunate" she is to be a singer. "If you're a singer, others will take care of your schedule and what you want to eat. Only singers get this kind of treatment in showbiz." In spite of this, Stella said that she's still willing to try acting in the future because acting "is a good way to explore another part of one's personality."

During a recent autograph signing session, Stella was surprised when a fourteen-year-old student presented her with a wedding ring and proposed to her on stage. When asked about what she's looking for in her "Mr. Right," Stella said, "I hope that my boyfriend can cook for me, because an ex-boyfriend prepared a huge meal for me on Valentines Day." But when asked if she's willing to cook for him, Stella said: "I don't have any intentions of poisoning him."
