Anime vs. Manga vs. Drama

There is an anime, manga, and drama version of Marmalade boy. Out of the three, I personally think that the drama is the best. Usually out of the usually two, anime and manga, I like the anime more because I like the sounds and music and it actually does help you learn Japanese. But in Marmalade Boy’s case, there also was a drama. And I definitely thought that the drama was the best. Stella’s expressions and Ken’s charisma really showed the characters personalities and really helped to develop them.

Manga

Manga: Yuu and Miki     Marmalade Boy (Ribon Macot Comics) is an 8 volume manga created by Wataru Yoshizumi. It came out before the anime, published in the shoujo monthly magazine Ribbon after Handsome na Kanojo. ‘In the manga, the super deformed (SD) expressions are more numerous than in the anime and very well done. Also, as always, the character designs and art are spectacular in the manga.’ (Thanks Justin! ^^)

Anime

Anime: Yuu and Miki     The Marmalade Boy anime consists of 76 episodes. The story of the anime and manga are pretty much the same. The manga is of course drawn much better than the anime and in more detail. The styles of the characters are different and the anime leaves out some scenes. In this case, the manga was by far superior. I thought that the animation was too stiff and that the colors were too tacky. Also, the short-shorts on the guys really got to me.

Drama

The drama, the newest of the three, I think is the best. Some people believe that the story plot of Marmalade Boy was used too much and that they should have been more original. But Stella and Ken actually give life to the characters. I also think everything from music to clothes was overall done better. The school uniforms in the anime were too bright and vivid. In the drama, Miki was always dressed so cool and had the coolest pants. The drama shows over StarHub Cable TV Ch56 every Sunday at 11am and 10pm.

Overall, I think the drama was the best. (Don’t kill me!) I very much suggest in seeing it. ^^
